GENERAL QUESTIONS
USING THIS WEBSITE
- How do I find a business using 13find.com.au?
- You can find a business either by entering the business type or the business name. You can narrow down results by also entering a location (e.g. a suburb or state).
- How do I find a business if I don't know where it's located?
- Simply enter the name of the business, and leave the location box blank. 13 FIND will find you the best results that match that business name.
- How do I specify the location of the business that I'm looking for?
- You can enter the Location as a suburb, a postcode, a state, or nationwide. You can also enter a street address to limit results to a particular street; however you must include a suburb or postcode with the street name. For example, search for optometrist collins st, melbourne.
- My 13 FIND results aren't what I expected, why is this?
- Generic searches may return business results from several categories. Try being more specific in your 13 FIND query to get more relevant business results. You can help us improve results by reporting an error or adding a missing business.
- Why aren't there any businesses matched to my search?
- It's possible that you have misspelt a keyword, business name, suburb or post code (we've been known to do it ourselves sometimes!), so please check the spelling and try again.
- The keyword you're using may not match any businesses listed with 13 FIND. Try using another keyword to find the business you're looking for, cross your fingers, and give it another go. If that doesn't work, then we may not have the business listed in our 13 FIND databases (bugger!). If it's your business we're missing then please contact us.
- The location you've used isn't recognised in our system. Please check the spelling of the location, or switch a postcode for a suburb and vice versa. If that doesn't give you the result you're looking for, try entering another suburb, postcode or even the state as the location.
- Why don't my results match the location I entered?
- If there are no businesses that match your keywords in your specified location, 13 FIND will try neighbouring suburbs and keep expanding the search area until we find a match. If your keywords are unusual, this may be some distance away from your specified location, but we reckon it's more helpful than no result at all.
- Why do I get results from right across Australia?
- Some suburbs appear in more than one state in Australia. If you entered one of these suburbs, you'll have an option at the top of your results to select the state you need. If you know your suburb is a common one, include the state and suburb in your original search (e.g. Hamilton NSW) or use the postcode instead (e.g. Hamilton 2303).
- What is "SMS result" and how does it work?
- "SMS result" is a FREE service that sends your 13 FIND results to your mobile phone using a free SMS. Once you've found the right business, simply click on the "sms result" link which appears below the business information, enter your details and submit. Within seconds you'll receive an SMS with the business' contact details.
- Will my mobile number be used for external marketing purposes?
- We respect your privacy and your personal information so we won't pass any of your personal details on to any 3rd party except in strict accordance with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.
- I entered my mobile number but didn't receive an SMS, what could have gone wrong?
- It's possible you've entered the wrong mobile number (we've been known to do it ourselves sometimes!), so please double-check and try again. Alternatively our "sms result" service may have been interrupted, or there may have been technical problems between 13 FIND and your mobile service provider. Please try again and, if that doesn't work, please let us know by sending us an email.
- What is "email result" and how does it work?
- "email result" is a FREE service that sends your 13 FIND results to your email address. Once you've found the right business, simply click on the "email result" link which appears below the business information, enter your details and submit. You'll soon receive an email containing the business' contact details
- Will my email be used for external marketing purposes?

- I entered my email address but didn't receive an email. What could have gone wrong?
- It's possible you've entered the wrong email address, so please double-check and try again. OTHER 13 FIND SERVICES
- Can I find businesses using an SMS enquiry?
-
Yes you can. How's this for a simple way to find a local business, especially if you're on the move! Simply text the category of business you are looking for and your suburb or postcode (e.g. florist bondi or florist 2026) to 13 FIND (that's 13 3463). Within seconds you'll receive a free return SMS with up to three relevant businesses to choose from. And the beauty is, your only charge is your standard mobile SMS rate any time you send us something (our replies to you are free)! If you have a smart phone, you can highlight the phone number of your preferred business option and simply click to call.
Alternatively, if you know the name of a business but need its contact details you can simply type in the name of the business (and location if you like), SMS it to 13 FIND (13 3463) and receive contact details by free return SMS. If you have a smart phone, you can highlight the phone number of your preferred business option and simply click to call.

- Why do I get results from right across Australia?
- Some suburbs appear in more than one state in Australia. If you entered one of these suburbs, you'll have an option at the top of your results to select the state you need. If you know your suburb is a common one, include the state and suburb in your original search (e.g. Hamilton, NSW).
- I've tried an SMS search and it didn't work?
- It's possible that you have misspelt a keyword, business name, suburb or post code, so please check and try again. It's also possible that you did not put a space between your search term and location (e.g. floristbondi should be florist bondi or florist, bondi).
- Please note that SMS to 13 or 1300 numbers is currently unavailable to customers of Vodafone or 3. We're hopeful Vodafone/3 will have it working soon!
- Can I call 13 FIND on the phone?
- Yes, you can! To call 13 FIND, simply dial the number 1300 FIND HELP (1300 34 63 43) on any phone in Australia, and you'll be connected to our 13 FIND Call Centre. 13 FIND's operators (smart, local Aussies during business hours) know their stuff and they'll bend over backwards (well, almost) to help you. The good news is, you only pay Local Rates from a fixed line or your standard mobile call charges from your mobile phone, and there's no extra charge if we're able to through-connect you to the business you want.
- When I call 13 FIND, why can I be through-connected sometimes but not others?
- Unfortunately 13 FIND can only through-connect you to businesses that advertise directly with 13 FIND - they pay for this service, so you don't have to.
BUSINESSES LOOKING TO USE 13 FIND
- How does my business advertise with 13 FIND?
- Just contact us and our sales team will answer any questions you have. You may also want to read through the benefits of advertising with 13 FIND.
- Can I list my business for free?
- Yes you can, but you will not receive any of the benefits of advertising with 13 FIND. However, any listing is better for your business than no listing at all! Just click here for free business listings.
- How do I update my business details?
- As an advertiser on 13 FIND you will have your own log-in information that will permit you to change your details at any time. In fact, you can even make real-time special offers to the public (e.g. "25% discount for purchases made before 31 October 2009").
- If you are not an advertiser on 13 FIND, please contact us, and we will assist in updating our records for you.
- If you do not appear at all on 13 FIND then you may wish to advertise with us or look at a free listing.
- How can I have my business listing removed?
- If you would like your business to be removed from 13 FIND, just call the 13 FIND team on (02) 8354 4333 or send us an email.
- Why do other listings sometimes appear above my advertised listing?
- We're committed to helping the consumer find what they want, so relevance is a very important consideration for 13 FIND results. In some cases, the 13 FIND algorithm may determine that other businesses are more relevant. However, when an advertised listing and a free listing are equally relevant (e.g. both are electricians in the same suburb with a similar specialty), then the advertised electrician will appear above the free listing in almost every instance.
- Can I have a listing for each of the postcodes my business services?
- Most advertisers on 13 FIND are able to specify the postcodes that they service. However, you will need to consider that 13 FIND is a Pay Per Lead service, so you should only specify those areas that you are genuinely committed to servicing, otherwise you'll be paying for leads that you don't want!
- Can I change the keywords linked to my listing?
- 13 FIND has a customised categorisation of business categories and associated keywords, and we manage it very carefully. While we don't allow businesses to change categories and associated keywords, the 13 FIND algorithm will look closely at all the information you provide us, such as your business description. As such, we recommend that you put any relevant terms you feel would help best describe your business into the information you supply us. We are also very happy to receive feedback or suggestions.
